The term Open science covers a set of practices that promote access to scientific knowledge, its procedures, methods, and results with the aim of increasing the transparency and reproducibility of research and thus the credibility of science. The sharing and reuse of scientific data and information should contribute to accelerating and increasing the efficiency of research and improving its quality.
The basic pillars of open science include, in particular:
- open access, mainly related to the publication of research results,
- open data that meets FAIR principles,
- open repositories,
- open software, and
- citizen science.
The Library supports the application of Open science principles through expert advice and educational activities aimed at employees, doctoral students, and workplaces.
